Book Tag | The NetGalley Tag

I have really fallen behind on my tags (and my Netgalley ARCs) lately, so this tag is perfect for helping me to focus and making me feel guilty. I found this over on Kristina @BooksandDachshunds blog!

¬ Link back to the tag’s creator: Kourtni at Kourtni Reads.
¬ Thank and link back to the person who tagged you.
¬ Answer the questions the best you can. If you don’t use NetGalley, you can substitute other sites or places where you get books!
¬ Tag a few people to do this too!

AUTO-APPROVED: Who’s one author whose books you automatically want to read, regardless of what they are about?

Picking one is way too hard so I’ll tell you my top 4: Becky Chambers (The Wayfarer Trilogy – which, by the way Netgalley, I am still waiting for my wish to be granted for), Madeline Miller (Circe), Akemi Dawn Bowman (Starfish), and Kaia Sønderby (Xandri Corelel series).

Unfortunately, despite my huge love for all of these authors I have never been auto-approved or even just… approved to read any of their books via Netgalley! *sobs*

REQUEST: What makes you want to request a book on NetGalley?

To be completely honest, I am terrible at requesting books that I’ve heard a lot of other people talking about. When I first started using NetGalley I requested a lot of books I ended not enjoying very much so I’m a lot more careful about what I request. The rest of the books I request depend on the author and description, and of course the covers!

FEEDBACK RATIO: Do you review every book you read? If not, how do you decide what books to review?

For my NetGalley reads I always, always, always review the books I have been accepted for. I kind of think it’s rude not to and not a great way to show gratitude to the publishers, let alone what it would do to my feedback ratio! Even if I didn’t enjoy the book I will always leave a little review explaining why!

BADGES: If you could create one badge to display on your blog, what would it be for?

I would LOVE for there to be a diversity badge on Netgalley?! Something to show that you are a reader who is dedicated to requesting, reading and reviewing diverse books would be fantastic as those are the main books I read.

It would also be kinda nice to be able to get genre related badges so if you read and review a lot of YA/Sci-fi/Non-fiction etc you can show this off on your blog!

(Ps: still waiting for my 80% badge that I worked my butt off for NetGalley!)

WISH FOR IT: What’s one book that you are absolutely dying to read?

I am DESPERATE for a copy of Record of a Spaceborn Few. I even resorted to tweeting the publishers telling them how much I would love for my wish to be granted – but no response yet!

2017 NETGALLEY CHALLENGE: What was the last book that you received as an ARC that you reviewed? If you’ve never received an ARC, what’s the last book you reviewed?

The last NetGalley ARC of 2017 was actually The Original Blues: The Emergence of the Blues in African American Vaudeville by Lynn Abbott and Doug Seroff. And, if you were wondering, the first ARC of 2018 was Everless by Sara Holland!

  1. A book tag about NetGalley?! Given that most of my books lately are from there, I need to do this. 😀

I wished for the third Wayfarers book as well, but no luck 😦 And the third book has such a beautiful cover as well.

Failure to Communicate is one of my favourite series, but I think we just talked about this 😀

I’m not even sure how to get the 80% badge. How long do you have to have a 80% feedback ratio? Because I have it right now but not for long yet.

  3. Awh, I love this tag! Thank you so much! And someone once told me you had to send in like 40 or 50 reviews before you get the 80% rating one? I think? I can’t remember! But hopefully that’s it! Happy reading, love! 💗xx

  5. I remember doing this tag once, longlong ago! It’d be fun to see how my answers differ this time around, haha.
I’ve the same as you with that 80% badge. Somehow it just doesn’t want to show, although it did in the past? Like.. Why?!

*For the first time in forever, I’m seriously on top of my NetGalley-game and I’m so proud of myself, hahaha*

  6. If you’re ever unashamedly desperate for a book you can try emailing the publisher directly – it’s often easier than requesting on Netgalley.
