November TBR | #Mythothon & Remember November

Hey friends!

I haven’t done a bingo event for what seems like forever so I couldn’t resist the lure of Foxes and Fairytale’s #mythothon for November, especially given my love for Greek mythology! As the end of the year is hurtling towards us at rapid speed the #mythothon bingo card also gives me the perfect opportunity to work out which books have been sadly sidelined this year and try to finish them before the end of the year. Which leads me onto the other thing happening this month, Remember November, a challenge to help you meet those pesky 2018 goals we set at the beginning of the year! Reading more owned books was one of my main goals for the year, so the mythothon and Remember November tie in perfectly for me.

Remember November

As always, the lovely Kathy at Books & Munches has us covered with another great monthly challenge. It’s a useful way for us to look back on the goals we wanted to achieve for this blog year and do a last minute catch up on anything we’ve been slacking on! So, where am I at with my 2018 goals?

Turns out I’ve been doing a pretty good job at keeping up with my goals even though they lay in my sadly forgotten bullet journal in my desk box. Goals that I have definitely been smashing include read what I want, read 50 books (I’m currently on #74), treat myself to more books, be more adventurous with my reading, using the library, blogging more consistently, and using the internet less so I can read more!

However, there are a few things that I’ve really slacked on this year that I had been wanting to work on. Firstly, taking the time to do more blog hopping to discover new blogs and secondly, balancing ARCs, new releases and backlist reads. I haven’t done too badly with blog hopping but would like to do more in the last 2 months. As for balancing books… I have done pretty badly. I got way too distracted with library books and ARCs which resulted in my evergrowing book hoard suffering. Which leads me to…

Although I’ve included a handful of ARCs that I really want to read this month, the majority of the books I’ve chosen are books that I own – some of which I got this year and others which have been waiting forever to be read. Here’s what I’m planning to read this month!

  1. Tone of Voice!! ❤ I'm so excited for you to read that! I also enjoyed Free Chocolate, and I haven't really seen anyone else reading it, so I'm curious what you'll think. I see you're having trouble with the antagonist prompt as well 😀 I have no idea what I'd read for that, but I'll probably won't get there anyway.

    1. I KNOW. I was so excited to buy Tone of Voice on the day of release and then it’s just sat on my kindle waiting for me to return! I’ve also had Free Chocolate since May and still haven’t read that either even though its an ARC! I’m so terrible

  2. Hope you enjoyed Record of a Spaceborn Few! It’s my least favourite of the three but still so amazing in its own right. A very character based book. Red Rising I loved and The Poppy War is also on my TBR. Hope you have a good November!

  3. I am so bad with getting distracted with library books and ARCs. And I wonder why I have so many unread books that I own. As much as I love the library, I think next year I might make it a goal of mine to try to stay away from library books and focus on what I have and maybe not request so many ARCs. Good luck with your challenges this month! There’s a few books on your TBR that I really want to read too. I currently have The Extinction Trials on its way to me! Can’t wait to see what you think about it.

      1. Yes, the library can be very bad for your owned TBR, sadly. I am totally down for a buddy read of The Extinction Trials. Although I’m not entirely sure when my copy will get to me since I had to order from The Book Depository and it usually takes a couple weeks to get to me. I’ll let you know when I get my copy and we can see if there’s time for a buddy read.

  4. Ooh I really want to join this readathon but I already have a massive TBR for the next few months! You’ve chosen some great books! The Poppy War is also on my TBR, I hope we both like it! Happy reading 💕

  5. I’ve been meaning to read Are We All Lemmings And Snowflakes ever since I got it at YALC and I still haven’t.. At this point I don’t even know whether I already packed the thing or not. Seriously, planning a move while pregnant is HELL because it all has to happen now I’m still able to pack the books myself.. :’)

Love how you’re combining two different challenges! I don’t have a very big TBR to get on top of my 2018 goals and I was doubting whether or not to take on the Mythothon as well but.. ended up deciding not to. Simply so I can have some mood reading in my future, hah. 🙂

Here’s hoping you can get on top of those 2018 goals even more so this month!

Happy reading / blogging, Avery. ❤

  6. For the Ares square – I haven’t read it so I’m not sure if it fits the prompt exactly, but I’ve heard Forest of a Thousand Lanterns by Julie Dao is an origin story for the evil queen of a Snow White story. Hope you enjoy lots of books for the bingo!
