State of the ARC | #4

State of the ARC is a monthly meme at Avalinah’s Books meant to motivate you to finish up all your long overdue ARCs (Advanced or Early Reader Copies).

I have been dreading doing State of the ARC this month because I have been failing so hard with my ARCs, especially since going back to university. November was not a great reading month for me so I’m super behind in general, and only managed to read 1 ARC! I’m really looking forward to January when Destiny will be hosting the readathon for overdue ARCs so I can really focus on my poor neglected ARCs.

The Boneless Mercies by April Genevieve Tucholke – ★★★★☆

The Boneless Mercies was the only ARC I managed to read this month, and part of that was down to the fact I found a copy of it at the library and felt motivated to read it as I had a physical reminder of it in my house! I’m looking forward to reviewing this later in the month.

I was really good this month and didn’t request any books as I want to devote my time to reading the ones I’ve already got. I did receive these though from Angry Robot Books after emailing them back in October which I was super happy about. 3 of them were ones that I requested and one was a surprise addition, can you guess which one is was the surprise? A massive thanks to Angry Robot Books for these, I can’t wait to read and review them ❤

December ARCs TBR

I’ve only officially planned to read 1 ARC this month (Defy the Worlds) as I had already started reading it a few months ago but was really struggling to get through. Though I am hoping that I will have time to read a few more given that we break up for Christmas in 2 weeks time! A Spy in the Deep is a wonderful book that was released in October which I sadly couldn’t review nearer its release date, and both the Young Explorer’s Adventure Guide & Green Jay and Crow are due for release this month so I want to try to read/review them ASAP!

Other News

Before I wrap up, I wanted to share with you all the incredible spreadsheet that the wonderful Kaleena made for 2019. Even though it’s not quite 2019 yet I’ve already started filling it out with important information so that I can make sure I’m prepared and can keep on top of everything.

One of the sheets included is an ARC spreadsheet which has been a huge help to me already. Not only can I record my ARCs, but I can also arrange them in order of reading obligation and Kaleena has included a really nifty little stats recorder if you’re interested in tracking your approval rating for ARCs!
