Currently Reading/Playing
I had a pretty scary incident at work over the weekend and have had to take some time off of work to recover and the idea of having to dive straight into my huge pile of ARCs is far too overwhelming for me right now. As I also have a nice list of backlist books from my Down the TBR Hole posts I would like to read before the end of March I decided to pick up one that I’ve owned for 2 years. So far, I’ve loving Yaqui Delgado… and it’s the perfect easy read for right now.
Yesterday my depression and anxiety were really bad so I went back to a favourite coping mechanism for when I’m struggling – The Sims! My partner had bought me the Get to Work expansion pack for Christmas but I didn’t get round to playing it and I also have the ‘Dine Out’ game pack via my Origin Premier membership so I’ve thrown myself back into the cosy world of the Sims with a new lesbian powerhouse couple.
Recently Finished
Let’s start with the less good news and get it out of the way – I had to DNF The Outcast Hours, one of my ARCs that I’ve been really looking forward to. Unfortunately, a lot of the material in the book is too heavy for me, especially when I’m in quite a vulnerable place right now, and it sadly just wasn’t the right book for me. After 8 chapters I decided it would be best for myself and the book if I put it aside.
But the good news is that I also finished You Asked for Perfect a few days ago and it was just what I needed. I posted my review of the book yesterday and thinking about it is still giving me warm, fuzzy feelings in my heart ❤ ❤
Next Read/Play
As I mentioned last week, New Suns is the ARC that I need to read next. I had hoped to have read and reviewed it this week but with everything going on it just hasn’t been possible. So far, I’ve read the first chapter which I really enjoyed so I’m looking forward to the rest of the anthology. I’d also like to try and persevere with The Night Circus for a few more chapters but the first few haven’t really grabbed me.
In terms of gaming, I have no idea what will be coming next because my gaming is a complete mess at the moment. Because I’ve been stressed and have had a lot of work lately, I keep picking up new games without finishing ones I’d already started and constantly jumping between them. I imagine the next week is just going to be a Sims hole though tbh.
How has your first week of March gone? As usual, let me know what you’ve been reading and/or playing ❤

That sucks about the scary incident. At least you get to read right? I love the Sims, it’s the perfect no thinking game. Now I want to play.. Maybe I will while listening to my book later. Hm. Anyway!
I can’t wait to read You Asked for Perfect. It looks awesome.
