WWW Wednesday is hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words! All you have to do is answers the following three questions:
What are you currently reading/playing?
What did you recently finish reading/playing?
What do you think you’ll read/play next?
Currently Reading/Playing
I started reading The Luminous Dead today and am about 15% of the way through my e-ARC. I’m really enjoying it so far and loving the mixture of sci-fi with the thriller aspects. So far it hasn’t been too creepy but we’ve got the perfect combination = caving in a deep, dark cave + a mysterious employer + evidence of lots of dead bodies! I can’t wait to read more tonight.
I’ve recently been spending a lot more time reading and looking into classic Queer texts. We’ve had a copy of Alison Bechdel’s The Essential Dykes to Watch Out For for years but I never picked it up so thought it would be the perfect time to get acquainted with this important piece of Queer history.
Nothing has changed for the past few weeks. I am still in a Sims 4 hole but will hopefully get out of it soon so I can actually play some of my other games!
Recently Finished
Because of everything that’s been going on these past few weeks and how stressed out I’ve been, I allowed myself to go back to the library and actually pick up some new books. I read Fun Home basically in one sitting as I enjoyed it so much – it’s such a great combination of Bechdel’s witty humour, great illustrations and autobiographical narrative style.
More Happy Than Not was one of the books on my Down the TBR Hole March deadline. I wasn’t sure I was going to pick it up but made a split second decision when I saw it at the library. Although I really struggled with it at first due to the prominence of suicide in the story, I’m glad I persevered with this as it ended up being such a cathartic read for me.
Oh. My. God. This. Book. IT WAS SO GREAT. I wasn’t sure what to expect from Heartstopper as I hadn’t paid much attention to it during all the hype around it, but I enjoyed it so much. Charlie & Nick have completely stolen my heart and I can’t wait to see what the next volume brings for them. Also, the copy I got was a special signed copy from Forbidden Planet which makes me super happy!
Next Read/Play
I’m on the blog tour for Wicked Saints at the end of the month so it will be my next ARC read. I wasn’t aware of the book until I was approached by the publisher and its something a little outside of the type of book I would normally request so I’m looking forward to giving it a go! My day is the 29th March ❤
This is another book that I picked up at the library so I can read something that is both fun but also related to my studies as I haven’t read anything relevant to my research for so long. I also have the Artificial Intelligence: A Very Short Introduction to read as well which I’m really looking forward to reading.
I’m honestly shocked at how much reading I managed to get done this past week as I’ve ended up having a really awful time of it. I was ill last week and got bad news yesterday about my PhD funding application being unsuccessful which has really thrown a spanner in the works. However, being ill allowed me to take a step back, rest and actually make time for my reading without feeling guilty or so stressed out I can’t concentrate!
As always let me know what you’ve been reading and/or playing this week ❤

So happy that you ended up liking More Happy Than Not. I love that book so much. I am dying to get my copy of Heartstopper! It’ll probably be a few weeks before it gets here since I had to order on Book Depository. I hope you enjoy your upcoming reads!

Thanks 🙂 I really love Adam Silvera’s books even though they can be really sad, his writing speaks to my broken teenage soul lol.

Heartstopper is AMAZING. I fell down a rabbit hole with the webcomic, and then immediately bought the graphic novel when I was finished. I can’t wait to have a physical copy of the second volume. It’s just so good and sweet and wonderful, UGH.

Yes, I saw that there is the web comic as well. I want to stick the physical copies for now so I can pace myself with it. It’s such a pure and sweet story. I love the boys so much.
