WWW Wednesday is hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words! All you have to do is answers the following three questions:
What are you currently reading/playing?
What did you recently finish reading/playing?
What do you think you’ll read/play next?
It’s been a whole 3 weeks since my last WWW Wednesday and I’ve missed updating you all on the state of my reading and playing. June has been a little bit of a hell month for me as my partner has had a difficult time with surgery (pre-op and post-op) which has made things quite stressful and chaotic for me as well. Although I’ve actually managed to do a lot of reading and playing (escapism is a THING for a me right now), I haven’t been able to keep up with reviews, posts or any actual work.
Things are, hopefully, starting to settle down and I’ve been looking forward to posting up my WWW Wednesday today!
Currently Reading/Playing
Hello World was one of the books on my Simsathon TBR and I definitely wanted to pick it up this month as a friend had bought it for my birthday back in April. I’m about 3 chapters in and so far enjoying it. It’s quite an easy read as its written for a wide audience, rather than an academic one, with lots of interesting information on AI in different societal contexts (law, medicine, etc).
I got The Sims 4: Island Living expansion pack 2 days ago and am screaming over it still. My partner bought it for me as I hadn’t yet been paid, so we have been playing it together while he recovers from surgery. So far I’ve been having a tonne of fun with my new sims; Eden Kimura, a human sim conservationist, and Jordan Kim, a mermaid lifeguard sim. Because I have an Origin premier account, I also get a pretty amazing discount on Sims 4 create-a-bundles (expansion + game pack + stuff pack) so I also bought the Outdoor Retreat game pack and the Toddler stuff pack.
Over the past few weeks I’ve also been playing a lot of SWTOR and am including it here as I played it a few days ago. I managed to finally finish my Jedi Consular Sage story line after about 3 years and have moved on to play a (dark) Jedi Knight Sentinel which I’m having a lot of fun with. As I’m hoping to play a lot of SWTOR over the next few months so that I can attempt to finish some of the base game main storylines, I also got myself a subscription to make full use of the game!
Recently Finished
Are We All Lemmings & Snowflakes? was another book on my Simsathon TBR as well as my YALC TBR so it was definitely a priority read for me this month. I’m not sure how I feel about the book overall, it’s one of those where I’m glad that it exists and I did enjoy reading it but I didn’t feel any other way about it? I’m picking up Destiny’s Saturday Smalls feature so I’ll be doing a mini-review for this soon, once I’m compiled my thoughts on it more.
I’ve been waiting forever to finally read volumes 6-8 of Saga as my library only had up to volume 5 and I couldn’t afford to buy them myself. Thankfully, I discovered my friend has (almost) the entire set so I managed to beg her to lend volumes 6-8 to me. I just finished reading Eight a few hours ago and have many complicated feels.
I’ve got a few days left of June to sneak in my last reads for the Simsathon, so hopefully I’ll be able to check off one or two more prompts. I have a few choices of what to read next but think I might go A Monster Calls as I have the lovely illustrated version which will help me to get through it quicker. Once I’ve finished that and Hello World, I doubt there’ll be time to read anything else before July arrives!
I imagine that this coming week will contain more Sims and SWTOR play, but I also want to play a little bit of Stardew Valley. I played quite a lot of it whilst my partner was away, finally getting my farm back on track, and I have a long train journey tomorrow that will no doubt provide me with some excellent farming time!
What have you been reading/playing this week?
If there are any games you’d like to play with me then let me know! I’d love to play more co-op games with friends.
