As my time is a lot more restricted now than it has been in previous years, given that I’m currently doing a PhD and working part-time, I’ve decreased the amount of posts I’m doing a week to 3 posts a week: The Weekly Wrap on Wednesdays, video games on Fridays, and book related posts on Sundays. Some weeks may include an additional post in the form of a review but I’m being more flexible with these so they will appear as and when rather than set in stone. So far, this schedule has been working a lot better for me.

What would you change if you could go back in time?
In a small back alley in Tokyo, there is a café which has been serving carefully brewed coffee for more than one hundred years. But this coffee shop offers its customers a unique experience: the chance to travel back in time.
In Before the Coffee Gets Cold, we meet four visitors, each of whom is hoping to make use of the café’s time-travelling offer, in order to: confront the man who left them, receive a letter from their husband whose memory has been taken by early onset Alzheimer’s, to see their sister one last time, and to meet the daughter they never got the chance to know.
But the journey into the past does not come without risks: customers must sit in a particular seat, they cannot leave the café, and finally, they must return to the present before the coffee gets cold . . .

I only finished one book this week as I made a bit of an error in picking up a magazine, a huge short story anthology, and then an ARC on top of that as well. So I have been reading a lot this week but haven’t finished anything yet – but that’s ok!

I haven’t had as much time to play games this week as I’ve been focusing on my work and also reading but I have played quite a lot of Pokemon Sword in the evenings and picked up my Christmas copy of AC: Odyssey on Saturday which has been amazing so far. I stopped playing the AC series due to finding some of the game mechanisms irritating and repetitive with the older games but wanted to give one of the newer ones a try and am loving it (and loving Kassandra – my heart!)
life updates:
My funding proposal was due yesterday and I managed to get my proposal completed and in on time. It’s something that had been causing me a lot of stress as it’s my second attempt at applying for funding so I’m proud of the fact I put in a lot of work to manage my fears and anxieties, and produced a piece of work that I’m reasonably happy with.
I have my upgrade viva next Tuesday so I can upgrade from MPhil status to PhD status and finally begin my fieldwork!
I’m hoping to be able to work on a few things over the next few weeks which include a short story submission for the Rebuilding Tomorrow anthology and a ‘think piece’ article I’ve been invited to write for an anthropology journal. I’ve never written something for submission before so I’m feeling quite nervous about both of these things.

I’m glad you found a schedule that has been working for you. I really need to come up with some kind of schedule for my blog as well. I usually just post whenever I feel like it or if it’s been awhile, then I try to come up with some kind of post. It would be nice to have a schedule going. That’s great that you have been reading a lot this week even if you haven’t finished anything. Once Ghosted, Twice Shy sounds like good. Happy to hear that you were able to get your proposal completed in time! 🙂 I hope you have a great rest of the week, Avery.
