E3 2019 | EA Play Highlights

Watching E3 in our house has become a beloved annual tradition and, as a gamer, it is a staple event in my calendar. One of my favorite parts of E3 2017 was doing my presentation write-ups. Although I never got around to writing up E3 2018 (thanks to too much Dragon Age 4 hype and Twitter speculating), it’s something I definitely wanted to do again this year. E3 2019 got off to a bit of a confusing start for me in terms of working out what presentations were happening and when, but I managed to catch up with the first ‘briefing’ – EA Play – last night.

Unlike many of the other companies presenting at E3, EA stepped away from delivering presentations to some kind of relaxed, live-stream event away from the E3 conference center. Whilst it helps to make their session more varied and allows fans to spend more time with each game, it wasn’t quite as exciting to watch. In all, EA Play showed 6 games: Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order, Apex Legends Season 2, Battlefront V, Fifa 20, Madden NFL 20, and The Sims 4. As I was only interested in 3 of these (Jedi Fallen Order, Apex Legends, and The Sims 4), those will be the ones I’ll be sharing today!

LudoNarraCon 2019

LudoNarraCon was an amazing digital convention which happened via live-stream on Steam on May 10th 2019. Hosted by indie game studio Fellow Traveller, LudoNarraCon aimed to celebrate narrative games and the people who make them through a convention that was able to be accessed by anyone with an internet connection, anywhere, for free. It offered fans of narrative games the opportunity to get together for one day online to “hear news about exciting upcoming games, play demos, and hear from creators”.

Although LudoNarraCon happened almost a month ago, I wanted to do a write-up of the event and share with you all some of my favourite narrative games that I discovered through it. I’m a huge fan of narrative video games so there was a lot to be excited about and, as someone who also loves attending conventions, the entire idea of LudoNarraCon really intrigued me. It was an enjoyable event and I’m happy to hear that the organizers are thinking of hosting another one in the future, so if you like the sound of LudoNarraCon then make sure you sign up for updates on their website.

Have I Played This Yet? |E

Welcome to the B side of Have I Played This Yet? In case you missed the introductory postHIPTY is a series started by Tecsie where she goes through her games alphabetically and talks about whether she’s played them or not. It’s a great way to hold myself accountable for all of the games I own that I haven’t yet played as well as inspire me to get playing them.
