The Weekly Wrap is a new weekly post created by Destiny which combines the WWW Wednesday meme and The Sunday Post to bring readers the best of both worlds within one tidy post. Here you can catch up with my weekly news including what I’m reading, playing and blogging about as well as general life updates.

#StartOnYourShelfathon| Sign-Up
Hey friends! Once again I’ve started a new year with no plans to join in any readathons but there was no way that I could resist this adorable and heart-warming #StartOnYourShelfathon courtesy of CW at the magical The Quiet Pond. It also coincides really well with having recently completed my ‘owned book’ section on Kal’s book blogger spreadsheet with my owned book total going up to 100 unread books, so I am definitely in need of this readathon!
CW has done a fantastic job of putting together this readathon and this lovely sign-up template. Read on to find out more about #StartOnYourShelfathon, my readathon goals and my tentative TBR!
9 Favorite Themes & Features in SF
For those who might have missed my launch post, this month I am on a very exciting voyage into space with my fellow SciFiMonth travelers. Whilst onboard we will be reading, playing and discussing all things Sci-Fi for the entire month of November! In honor of this journey, I will be sharing some lists throughout the month of some of my favorite SF-themed things.
Today’s edition is: Favourite Themes and Features in SF. In case you didn’t already know, SF is my favorite genre so it should come as no surprise that there are lots of recurring themes and features within the genre that make me love it so much. Here I’ll be sharing some of my favorite themes and features with you. In addition to telling you a bit about each theme or feature, I’ve listed some recommendations of books, films and/or video games which deal with them. These are a mixture of books, films and video games which I’ve read/watched/played with some that I haven’t gotten around to yet. Those that I haven’t engaged with will be marked with a *. (Also fair warning there are a lot of repeats because my knowledge is still limited!) Make sure you drop a comment letting me know what yours are too!
WWW Wednesday | 11th September 2019
WWW Wednesday is hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words! All you have to do is answers the following three questions:
What are you currently reading/playing?
What did you recently finish reading/playing?
What do you think you’ll read/play next?
I’m continuing to have quite a difficult time at the moment as my depression has taken a bit of a nosedive, likely in response to stress around my dissertation which I’ve had to get an extension for. However, I’ve actually been able to use this time to seek solace in books rather than sitting in a massive blanket puddle not doing anything and I’ve been able to get a lot of reading done this week which is great!
September TBR | The Calm Before the Storm
Hello, hello friends!
I can’t believe that September is already here?! I know I’ve said that pretty much every month this year but it is even truer for September. It feels like not that long ago that I was starting my Masters last September and now we’re back in September and this time I’m about to start my PhD?? I honestly do not really know how I got here but September/October is going to be a pretty big month for me and the start of another 3-year foray (at the very least) into education. I am clearly a glutton for punishment.
Speaking of being a glutton for punishment, I still want to keep up with my blog in whatever way I can manage so I don’t foresee myself going anywhere over the next months. Not only am I going to be sticking around but I’m hoping to introduce a new feature to put the spotlight on indie and/or diverse authors. I’ve been wanting to introduce this since the start of the year and feel particularly inspired to after World Con in August. I’m also hoping to set up a book blogger streaming collective with a few blogger friends. So, lots of exciting things ahead. Do you think I’ll have time for reading too? 😂
