May ‘TBR’ | Moody May!

By now I’m sure most of you are aware that I’m taking part in Moody May as my enthusiasm over mood reading has led me to mention it at almost every available moment in my recent blogs! I had initially planned to take part in another readathon but I really need a break from structured TBR as well as the pressure of keeping up with reviews. I’ve noticed that the combined constraints of my TBR and stress of ARC reviews were leading me to read much slower than I otherwise would, leading me into reading slumps and all around sadness. Plus, sometimes books that had been patiently waiting on my long-term TBR list would one day call out to me only for their pleas to be read to go ignored…

No longer! Moody May is here to save the day and help me take a much needed, more relaxed approach to reading. As part of Moody May is to be free from TBR’s this post isn’t so much of a TBR as a “Moody May sign-up and list of books I might like to read” post.

2019 Reading Challenges

This year I took part in my first proper reading challenges, Beat the Backlist and the Goodreads Challenge, with varying success. Although I absolutely smashed my Goodreads Challenge, I struggled to balance backlist books with new releases and ARCS as well as log my reading progress with the BtB database to register points. However, I had a lot of fun with reading challenges and found that they (mostly) helped me keep on track with my reading!

For 2019, I’m committing myself to even more reading challenges and am super excited to take part. I’ve matched my challenges up to my reading goals, which I’ll be sharing with you all on New Years Eve, but for today I’m sharing with you all which challenges I’ll be taking part in and 8 books I will read for each as well as linking you up to the hosts so you can sign up too if you want! A massive thanks to the wonderful Tina for her 2019 Reading Challenge Index which helped me find some new challenges to take part in.

Wrap Up | April: Autism Awareness Month

Every month I start up with such blogging optimism and planning but it never seems to quite work out how I wanted it to go! I did get 9 books read but 4 of them were graphic novels and only 1 of them was themed around Autism Awareness Month which I didn’t get to review in time before the end of the month. I’ve not been doing too great with actually reviewing things on time so this is definitely something I want to work on next month. Over the next month, I am also hoping to continue my blog redesign so it should be a busy next month ❤

I do have two really exciting pieces of news for you all though, which you can catch later on in this post! ;D

Discussion | E-Books VS Physical Books

There have been many discussions over e-books and physical books. Some people swear off e-books with concerns that e-books are going to replace their beloved physical books. Some people love e-books because let’s be real, most of us can’t cart around 5 or 6 books with us and e-readers keep everything nice, compact, and easily transportable for those who either have too many books on the go at once to carry them all or can’t make up their mind and need to take their entire collection with them in their e-reader. Others love the feeling of holding a physical book in their hands and take pride in collecting beautiful copies to line their bookshelves.
