Over the past year I’ve seen many of my friends join in with this meme but never felt to urge to myself. However, as the new year approaches, I’ve been spending reflecting on my reading and blogging for 2019 which led me to finally pay attention to the fact that I still have books from 2012 (when I first made my Goodreads) on my TBR shelf. As I want to actually tackle my backlist books in a more structured way next year I decided it would be a great time to actually join in with Down the TBR Hole to control that pesky, ever-growing TBR!
How it works:
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 books)
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?

Every year I look forward to the Goodreads Choice Awards and this year was no different. Even long before I started book blogging, the GR Choice Awards provided the perfect opportunity to show my love for my favourite books and (of course) increase my TBR by adding some of the biggest book names of the year.

We all find our own unique paths into the genres that we love and wind up there for many different reasons. We could have discovered a favourite genre when staying up late one night and found ourselves absorbed in a strange film that we just couldn’t stop watching. Maybe we came to a genre through a relative, mentor, or friend who recommended a book that we just *had* to read. Sometimes the genres we come to love are ones that we disliked so much as children and teenagers because we were forced to read books, watch films, and act out plays that we found boring at the time but grew to love later on in life.
In this series, I want to share with you my journey into my favourite genres. As it’s Science Fiction & Fantasy week on Goodreads, I thought there would be no better way to kick off the series than with one of my all-time favourite genres – Science Fiction!

March has felt like such a bizarre month; both unendingly long but also too short now that the end of the month is here. The fact that April is just around the corner is just blowing my mind – how can 3 months have already swept past? When I was little, it felt like time just went on forever but now that I’m an adult it feels like time is a train that just won’t stop.
Now that those thoughts are out into the world, let’s discuss what happened during March!

This past week has ended up being a very Goodreads inspired blogging week. This time I’ve been inspired by Destiny’s super fun post. The aim is to sort your Goodreads TBR shelf according to the number of ratings (“num ratings”) and share the books which are the most popular.
When I tried it out the other day I thought it was really interesting alternating between the most popular books and the highest rated books on my TBR because those two things are very different. So I’m going to divide this post into most popular versus highest rated for a fun comparison! As there are quite a few books which appeared on my highest rated list that either hadn’t been reviewed as the book isn’t released yet (and no ARCs released) or only had less than 5 reviews, I will only be including books that have been released (including ARCs) and that have more than 30 reviews.
