May ‘TBR’ | Moody May!

By now I’m sure most of you are aware that I’m taking part in Moody May as my enthusiasm over mood reading has led me to mention it at almost every available moment in my recent blogs! I had initially planned to take part in another readathon but I really need a break from structured TBR as well as the pressure of keeping up with reviews. I’ve noticed that the combined constraints of my TBR and stress of ARC reviews were leading me to read much slower than I otherwise would, leading me into reading slumps and all around sadness. Plus, sometimes books that had been patiently waiting on my long-term TBR list would one day call out to me only for their pleas to be read to go ignored…

No longer! Moody May is here to save the day and help me take a much needed, more relaxed approach to reading. As part of Moody May is to be free from TBR’s this post isn’t so much of a TBR as a “Moody May sign-up and list of books I might like to read” post.

Discussion | When Is the Right Time to Review New Releases?

Knowing when to review a book can be a bit of a confusing minefield for book reviewers, both new and old alike. I have been a book blogger for just over 2 years now and I still don’t know when the “right time” to review is because there are no hard and fast rules about reviewing. It is entirely dependent on the publisher/author as well as yourself!

State of the ARC | #8

State-of-the-ARC

State of the ARC is a monthly meme at Avalinah’s Books meant to motivate you to finish up all your long overdue ARCs (Advanced or Early Reader Copies).

March was an unexpected ARC month for me as I had a lot of new release ARCs due for release this month. Thanks to January’s Late-a-thon providing me with a way to catch up with a lot of my overdue ARCs, I was able to get my ARC reading (mostly) back on track just in time for many of my new releases. Thankfully, this month’s reading was went much better than last month’s reading as well so it was a great reading month all around!

As of the end of March I am also going on a new release ARC break, with the exception of the four new releases I have coming up in April and May. Although being approved for new release ARCs and getting to read them ahead of release is massively exciting and something that I am always, always incredibly thankful for I have found it making reading a bit stressful lately as well as taking over my TBR’s. I want to start focusing more on the books I own as well as books from the library.

WWW Wednesday + Updates | 21st February 2019

WWW Wednesday is hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words! All you have to do is answers the following three questions:

What are you currently reading/playing?
What did you recently finish reading/playing?
What do you think you’ll read/play next?

So… I know it’s a day late and I haven’t posted a WWW Wednesday 2 weeks but I finally have a spare moment to actually do a quick post to update you all on what I’m getting up to at the moment reading wise. I’ve also expanded the question out to include what I’m playing video games, as I’m finding that I’m spending more time playing games than reading at the moment in an attempt to wind down with my partner, and some weeks I have no book updates but more game updates!

Top 10 Tuesday | Lesser Known Books I Meant to Read in 2018

Top 10 Tuesday is a weekly book tag that was run by The Broke and the Bookish but has now moved to That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week she provides a different bookish theme those deep-seated desires to list! Anyone is welcome to join in on their blog, in the comments or any other way.

If there’s one thing all of us book bloggers have in common, it’s our very long lists of books we meant to read at some time or another and there are so many books in the world that it’s only natural that some always seem to get left behind more than others. Throughout all of 2018 and the beginning of this month, I’ve already shared many lists of books that I meant to read and these lists often mention the same books over and over again. So, instead of sharing big name books that always get attention I thought I would with you all some of the lesser known books on my 2018 TBR that I didn’t get round to instead!
