12 Books I Need to Read in 2020

It’s January which means it’s a list month extravaganza so here’s another list for you – this time on the books that I want to read in 2020. Every year I make a list of my priority reads for the year, every year the year ends with me not having read most of the books on it. This year though I am determined to read all of these – don’t rain on my parade. Each cover links to its goodreads page.

November TBR | SciFiMonth 2019

EC4QllfWwAE0MJH

I can’t quite believe how long it’s been since I posted my last post on this blog (25th September) and how quickly time seems to have flown. Things have been quite hectic for me since starting my PhD in September for various reasons including, most recently, a huge mess up with my doctoral loan which caused untold stress. But, for now, that is all besides the point because today I have quickly shoved my lowly human woes to the back of the closet so that I can make space for my favourite month of the yearSciFiMonth! It’s been a bit of a chaotic rush to tie up some loose Earthly ties, throw a load of miscellaneous items in my space-faring rucksack, and rush over in time to catch the SciFiMonth ship before it departed but I made it and I’m ready to report.

Down the TBR Hole | Mass Clear Out Part 1: Older Additions

Down the TBR Hole was originally created by Lia @ Lost in a Story

Hey everyone. This post is going to be quite a bit different from my previous Down the TBR Hole posts as it’s going to be a bit of a mega-post in honor of the coming academic year (i.e when my ‘new year’ technically starts because I’ve been in education for too long and my entire life runs around the academic calendar). I love clear-outs and I especially love sorting through my physical and virtual TBR shelves. However, I’ve always found it frustrating to only do my TBR clear-outs in small increments bi-monthly rather than just doing it all in one go. Things end up building up faster than they are gotten rid of and if I continue doing two posts a month with about 10 TBR books each it would take me about 10.5 months to go through the books I already have on my shelves…

So, rather than drag this out any longer than it needs to be I’m gonna hit y’all with two beastly posts divided into older TBR additions and newer TBR additions to sort out which I’m keeping, which I’m getting rid of and which are on their last chance. It’s going to be ruthless and it’s going to be tough but I am aiming for those nice clean shelves in time for the start of the new academic term at the end of September!

This post is devoted to “older additions” which includes anything pre-October 2018. Some of these will have appeared on previous Down the TBR Hole posts but may have been reconsidered since then.

September TBR | The Calm Before the Storm

Hello, hello friends!

I can’t believe that September is already here?! I know I’ve said that pretty much every month this year but it is even truer for September. It feels like not that long ago that I was starting my Masters last September and now we’re back in September and this time I’m about to start my PhD?? I honestly do not really know how I got here but September/October is going to be a pretty big month for me and the start of another 3-year foray (at the very least) into education. I am clearly a glutton for punishment.

Speaking of being a glutton for punishment, I still want to keep up with my blog in whatever way I can manage so I don’t foresee myself going anywhere over the next months. Not only am I going to be sticking around but I’m hoping to introduce a new feature to put the spotlight on indie and/or diverse authors. I’ve been wanting to introduce this since the start of the year and feel particularly inspired to after World Con in August. I’m also hoping to set up a book blogger streaming collective with a few blogger friends. So, lots of exciting things ahead. Do you think I’ll have time for reading too? 😂
