Video Game Wrap Up | June 2019

Welcome, friends, to my first video game wrap up on my blog!

Although I’ve been blogging a lot more about video games on my blog recently, it never occurred to me to do a separate wrap up for them. However, in my last wrap up I had a lot of books to wrap up and personal news to share and didn’t want to make the post even longer, so decided it was finally time to give video games a wrap up of their own!

As I mentioned in my general wrap up a couple of days ago, June ended up being quite a stressful month for me in terms of personal life stuff so I found myself turning increasingly to books and video games as a way to have fun/escape from real world stuff. It was nice to actually get to play so many games for a change, instead of struggling to find time for them.

WWW Wednesday | 26th June 2019

WWW Wednesday is hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words! All you have to do is answers the following three questions:

What are you currently reading/playing?
What did you recently finish reading/playing?
What do you think you’ll read/play next?

It’s been a whole 3 weeks since my last WWW Wednesday and I’ve missed updating you all on the state of my reading and playing. June has been a little bit of a hell month for me as my partner has had a difficult time with surgery (pre-op and post-op) which has made things quite stressful and chaotic for me as well. Although I’ve actually managed to do a lot of reading and playing (escapism is a THING for a me right now), I haven’t been able to keep up with reviews, posts or any actual work.

Things are, hopefully, starting to settle down and I’ve been looking forward to posting up my WWW Wednesday today!

E3 2019 | Highlights & Final Thoughts

I had been intending to do a write-up for each of the E3 conferences this year. However, in the end, I didn’t feel that there was enough content to do a write-up for each conference individually and also it was a lot of work for each post! This year’s E3 was incredibly disappointing and a lot of the games that were featured were ones that had already been premiered last year or even the year before. Whilst it was good to get updates on the games in development and some 2019/2020 release dates for those games, it meant that there was little to get excited about in terms of new games.

This year I watched the presentations/live-streams for EA Play, Microsoft, Bethesda, Ubisoft, the PC Gaming Show, and Nintendo. I did a presentation write-up for EA Play and Microsoft, but the other presentations (with the exception of Nintendo) didn’t leave me with much to talk about. So, instead, I’ll be sharing with you all my game highlights of E3 2019 in this post featuring the games that I’m most looking forward to playing in 2019/2020.

E3 2019 | EA Play Highlights

Watching E3 in our house has become a beloved annual tradition and, as a gamer, it is a staple event in my calendar. One of my favorite parts of E3 2017 was doing my presentation write-ups. Although I never got around to writing up E3 2018 (thanks to too much Dragon Age 4 hype and Twitter speculating), it’s something I definitely wanted to do again this year. E3 2019 got off to a bit of a confusing start for me in terms of working out what presentations were happening and when, but I managed to catch up with the first ‘briefing’ – EA Play – last night.

Unlike many of the other companies presenting at E3, EA stepped away from delivering presentations to some kind of relaxed, live-stream event away from the E3 conference center. Whilst it helps to make their session more varied and allows fans to spend more time with each game, it wasn’t quite as exciting to watch. In all, EA Play showed 6 games: Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order, Apex Legends Season 2, Battlefront V, Fifa 20, Madden NFL 20, and The Sims 4. As I was only interested in 3 of these (Jedi Fallen Order, Apex Legends, and The Sims 4), those will be the ones I’ll be sharing today!
