Top 10 Tuesday | Spring TBR

Top 10 Tuesday is a weekly book tag that was run by The Broke and the Bookish but has now moved to That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week she provides a different bookish theme those deep-seated desires to list! Anyone is welcome to join in on their blog, in the comments or any other way. 

I haven’t done a Top 10 Tuesday post in what feels like forever, in fact, the last one I did was at the end of January! However, after seeing everyone else’s TTT posts today with their Spring TBR’s I felt inspired to join in for this week’s prompt. You know me, I can never resist an opportunity for a good TBR list!

Recently I’ve been feeling a lot of pressure over what I “should” be reading – my ARCs, my backlist books, my owned books… – and it’s been taking some of my enjoyment out of reading. Obviously there are quite a lot of books I “should” be including here on my Spring TBR but I want this to be a TBR of Spring goodness and fun rather than misery and pressure!

 

Aurora Rising by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff (ARC)

One of the few ARCs I don’t feel much pressure over reading because holy hell am I excited to read this. I still have to pinch myself over my physical ARC because I still can’t believe it. I’ll be reading this next month!

 

 

Summer Bird Blue by Akemi Dawn Bowman (ARC)

Another ARC I feel no pressure over because I’m over the moon about it. You should all know by now how much of a fan I am of Akemi Dawn Bowman and I’ve been highly anticipating Summer Bird Blue since its US release.

 

 

The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo (Owned)

I recently got a copy of The Poet X from a friend and I can’t wait to read it. I’ve heard nothing but amazing reviews of it and it seems like the perfect Spring time read.

 

 

 

Living a Feminist Life by Sara Ahmed (Wishlist)

I’ve wanted to read this since it was first published, as well as some of Sara’s other books, but sadly have never gotten around to it. I’ve included Living a Feminist Life on my birthday list for next month so fingers crossed I’ll have my own copy to read soon.

 

 

Are We All Lemmings and Snowflakes? by Holly Bourne (Owned)

I hadn’t been planning on this Spring TBR to include so much YA Contemporary but for some reason it feels like the perfect genre for Spring. I’ve had AWALS since YALC last year but we all know how well my YALC reading went…

 

 

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han (Owned)

The wonderful Lauren bought this for me for Christmas but I haven’t read it yet thanks to being buried under all my ARCs. Again, this seems like the perfect Spring/Summer read and I can’t wait to read the book after loving the Netflix movie.

 

Dream Daddy: A Dad Dating Simulator by Leighton Gray and Vernon Shaw (ARC)

This is another ARC but how could I not include it in my Spring TBR. I’m loving graphic novels at the moment and this seems like a really fun, light Spring-time read.

 

 

The Tea Dragon Society by Katie O’Neill (Wishlist)

This one is also on my birthday list and I’m crossing all my fingers and toes for it. I love the look of Katie O’Neill’s books and basically want to read ALL OF THEM. Also picnics + tea + dragons = perfect Spring.

 

 

The Well of Loneliness by Radclyffe Hall (Owned)

I bought a copy of The Well of Loneliness during a trip to Gay’s the Word last week as part of my recent inspiration to read more classic Queer literature. I made a goal to read books soon after I buy them so hoping to get to this soon.

 

 

The Wicked and The Divine Vol. 1 by Kieron Gillen (Wishlist)

Another one I’ve been waiting ages to read and hoping to get for my birthday. I’ve been waiting to read this for over 2 years and keep hearing so many good things about it. Plus, Spring is clearly the time for graphic novels!
