WWW Wednesday | 5th June 2019

WWW Wednesday is hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words! All you have to do is answers the following three questions:

What are you currently reading/playing?
What did you recently finish reading/playing?
What do you think you’ll read/play next?

I actually have things to talk about this week because I’ve been able to make time for reading and gaming, yay!

I received a review copy of Lost Gods last year from Angry Robot (*sobs and begs for forgiveness from the benevolent Angry Robot*) and finally picked it up as part of the sims-a-thon. I’m enjoying it so far and can’t wait to see how the story develops, especially as I’ve seen such rave reviews about it, although I’m a little bit miffed about some of the disability rep I’ve seen so far.

Don’t Touch My Hair was an ARC that I broke my ‘no more ARC requests’ rule for and I regret NOTHING. This is such an incredible and important book by one of my favourite academics, Emma Dabiri, who talks candidly about colonialism, racial politics, and, of course, hair. I’ll be reviewing it in a few weeks so keep an eye out for my review of it then.

Rakuen_Poster_Description

Rakuen was one of the games on my Sidequest Challenge list so I decided to give it a try last week and fell in love with it. It’s such a beautiful and pure game which absolutely destroyed me. Everything from the soundtrack, game design, characters and narrative was outstanding. I’m sad that this never won any awards because it definitely deserves them! I’ll be writing a review about it soon but you should 100% check it out.

Content notices though for grief, cancer in children, hospitals, and death.

Next Read/Play

3max
Watching the Pokemon Sword and Shield announcements today made me want to play my Switch more. Since I bought it, I’ve only used it to play Pokemon and a tiny bit of Stardew Valley which has been frustrating me as the console was so expensive. Part of the reason I don’t play Nintendo consoles as much is the games never seem to go down in price by much, but I found a copy of Overcooked 2 for £20 so I can play online with my friends so we’re going to have a gaming session tomorrow evening. Yay!

What have you been reading/playing this week?
If there are any games you’d like to play with me then let me know! I’d love to play more co-op games with friends.
